 Outfox goes to TwitchCon 2017

Outfox Does TwitchCon 2017

By: Jordan Saucedo, Affiliate Associate

Over 50,000 gamers came together at the Long Beach Convention Center this year to celebrate Twitch and the Twitch Community. With TwitchCon moving locations for a third time, the keynote started with promises of being the best and biggest one yet. At Outfox we've been growing our Twitch channel and felt that TwitchCon 2017 was a perfect opportunity to explore how we can improve our content and community. Twitch previously introduced key features such as Twitch Prime, Subscriptions, and Bits last year, so fans and streamers were anticipating even more ways to take streaming from a hobby to new heights.

Empowering the Streamer

Twitch announced many new features and services to not only improve how you stream, but also change how you connect with your community and reshape the viewing experience. Here are a few features set to be launched around November that have our stream team pumped:

  • Stream Summary: Ever wondered how your stream went after it ends? At a glance, the new Stream Summary gives you a look at stats for each stream, including recently unlocked achievements, top clips, traffic sources, and more information to help you identify how to keep growing. Starting in November, everyone will have access to Stream Summary right on their dashboard.
  • Achievements: For many streamers, Affiliate or Partnership status is the dream, but the steps you should take to reach those goals haven’t always been clear. Achievements clarifies those requirements and encourages creators to learn streaming best practices and interact with their communities. This feature is built to give streamers a fun roadmap to achieving greater success on Twitch. We expect to learn more about the feature in November.
  • Subscription Gifting: A long requested feature, Twitch will finally deliver Subscription Gifting just in time for the holiday season – very soon! Viewers will be able to purchase a 1-month subscription for anyone on Twitch, including the $4.99, $9.99 and $24.99 options. Gift givers will receive social recognition in chat and to third parties, and recipients will receive all the benefits of subscription. This sounds like a great way to not only support your favorite streamers, but share the support with your friends.

A recording of the TwitchCon 2017 Keynote is also available if you’d like to get a more in-depth look at each new feature and service announced at the event.

H1Z1 TwitchCon Invitational

Also returning for a second year was the H1Z1 TwitchCon Invitational. Throughout the weekend, 3 different tournaments were held: All-Stars, Legends, and Challengers. Among the list of participants included Dr DisRespect, Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson, Pineaqples, Summit1G, Shroud, and even a few participants who were voted in by Twitch Fans like GliterXplosion and Lucas60FPS.

Tournament winners took home some impressive prizes, including up to $80,000 for Rizaar as the winner of the Legends Finals. A full list of winners and payouts from the H1Z1 Invitational can be found directly on the H1Z1 website.

Informative Panels

A major component to TwitchCon is the large, diverse number of panels available to attendees. As a new community on Twitch, we are excited to learn from successful groups and eSports teams about how we can grow our Twitch presence. Some highlights included advice on how to perfect a charity stream, which we will be doing on November 3rd with Extra Life and how to utilize the recently-added extensions feature to liven up streams. It was also great to hear Brendan "PlayerUnknown" Greene discuss the future of battle royale style games, and how it’s becoming its own genre.

Takeaways

All in all, TwitchCon 2017 was an experience of a lifetime. From meeting the 2-Time Blockbuster Video Game Champion, Gaming Superstar and founder of the Slick Daddy Club - Dr DisRespect, to seeing the H1Z1 Legends showcase their skills and battle it out for $80,000 and bragging rights. For all of the streamers who took the time to talk to me about Outfox, it was a pleasure to meet you. As Outfox continues to expand, expect to see a few members of our team at future conferences showcasing how we aim to eliminate lag and improve the online gaming experience. Hope to see you at the next one and make sure to follow us on Twitch to see when we go live!
