league of legends
Why are you trying to connect me to the NA server.

Question

Did you guys realize that are many League of Legend servers, not only an NA server? So I'm a Brazilian player trying to play League of Legends, but instead of improving my route for the BR  game server, Outfox is doing it for the NA game server, resulting in horrible lags (my ping goes from 70 to 400)...

I'm not sure if this software is new (I got it on a Humble Bundle deal), but this is quite a standard thing, I must tell you that was a terrible first impression. I mean, at least give me the possibility to deal with configurations.

The problem is clear, there is no way (that I know thus far) to point out to the software that I'm trying to connect to the Brazilian game server, not the NA game server, and the software seems to have a hard time to figure out that obvious situation.

I'm not even bothering to test others games like CS:GO. It's obvious that if you're shipping your product worldwide you need to have this kind of things in mind.

If this software only tries to improve routes to NA servers, you should let everyone know it ASAP.

Also, please add ESO on the game list =P

Sorry if I sound rude, but that was really a very bad first impression. Wish you guys a good work, hopes you can fix it soon.

EDIT / Clarification:
As a Brazilian Player, I'm trying to connect to the League of Legends BR GAME SERVER. Even manually choosing OUTFOX BR SERVER (Rio de Janeiro), the software keeps trying to improve my route to the NA GAME SERVER of League of Legends. In result, my ping goes high than ever before. I want to play on the BR GAME SERVER of League of Legends, not in the NA GAME SERVER.

Hey @tomwodi,

Sorry for the confusion there in regards to the server location.  Outfox doesn't actually judge Riot servers as being in their actual location for League of Legends, since we base game server off of the location the Server IP is registered to, it can show as the NA server because that's how Riot has their IP addresses registered.  The way it is shown won't affect the performance.

If selecting the Outfox server location as the BR server location, that means you are forcing Outfox to be used regardless if our path to the game server is better than your normal ISP connection.  If you haven't done so recently we would advise rebooting both your computer and your router to refresh your network.

Do you experience similar performance results when using the default of "Fastest Server"?  If so then Outfox isn't going to be able to improve your gaming connection for LoL.  If it states that Outfox "Not Used" then your ISP's path to the game server happened to be more optimal than our path.

We'll look into addressing this geo-location issue in a future update to avoid any confusion.

Thanks!

I've posted this issue months ago and decided to give this software some more time (since it was very new). But, it seems the bug is still there.

Again, your software does not understand that I'm a Brazilian player and that I play in the Brazilian GAME server. It keeps trying to connect me to the USA game server (it is trying to connect me to the wrong GAME server, Outfox server seems to be ok).

I use VyprVPN, it is from the same company, and must say it is a very good one (not for gaming, a very good VPN I mean).

But, sadly, this Outfox software doesn't work for me. Not only it has a very small pool of games, but it also does not work, and there is no way to even try to manually configure it (a very bad design choice if you ask me).

I'm giving up and canceling my subscription, giving this feedback so you guys can look at it and fix it for your possible future new clients.

Hello @tomwodi

Outfox displays the Game Server based on where the server IP is registered, not where it's actually located. It's possible that the League of Legends Brazil server is located in Brazil but is registered in the US.  Your connection should still be going to the Brazil game server. Within the game does it show that you're on the Brazil server?

As for the performance issue, do you have the same problem when selecting "fastest server"?

There are many signs that says otherwise. First, the Brazilian game server refuses to connect. Second, the ping goes from 30 to average USA ping (90 - 150).
The test that I show in the above file was done with the "fastest server" options. It does find the Brazilian OUTFOX server, but it refuses to connect in the Brazilian GAME server.

My average ping is 20 - 30, I choose to use VPN not to decrease ping per se, but to improve route and avoid packet loss. But using Outfox my ping goes high, oddly enough it goes to the average ping that I would get in the USA game server, and it's saying in the software that it is trying to connect me to the USA game server, and the Brazilian game server refuses connection... So, sorry but I don't buy this.

Also, how the software will know what server I want to play? What if I want to play with friends in other South America game server? How if today I want to play with friends in the NA game server or in the EU game server? How I will tell the software what server I want to join?

Again, BAD DESIGN. You should let the person choose the game server it wants the software to improve connection, it is not supposed to be picked automatic.

You guys should take a look at the best gaming VPNs around because it really seems to me the problem is a lack of experience in the gaming scene.

@tomwodi Hello, I we understand you correctly you are using the Fastest server option. You can manually select a different server location by clicking Outfox settings. You can request we add more locations in our Outfox Forum.

Regards

I'm talking about "game server" not about "outfox server", and I will not explain the difference to you because it's not my job to know it. Unless you're telling me that by choosing the "outfox server" location the software will pick a "game server" close to it, and I doubt. But if so, it's still a terrible design, since the person can't use the "fastest server" tool when connecting to other regions game servers.

The software is supposed to pick a game server automatically, and to start automatically. So by any means the user hands are tied. But when it does not work as it supposed to, and the person come here asking for a fix, all you have to say is "are you using the fastest server option"?

Sorry but the "support" in this thread is nonexistant. I have said Outfox is not working two times already, and I all hear is "excuses" and "our software is perfect sir".

@tomwodi  Hello! After reviewing our previous exchange. Please should ensure yourrouter isn't blocking any type of ICMP traffic and your firewall sofrware should not restrict that traffic either. You might need to disable router/software firewalls temporarily to diagnose.

If these issues perists, please contact our Support Team and provide your Outfox logs so we can investigate further: https://www.getoutfox.com/support
